UNI Awarded Nearly $1M To Upgrade Foundry Center

The University of Northern Iowa received nearly $1 million to upgrade its Foundry 4.0 Center with advanced manufacturing equipment.  The Iowa Economic Development Authority awarded UNI $970,000 through its Strategic Infrastructure Program, according to university officials. The funding will pay for a 3D sand printer and an induction furnace. The university said the new equipment will enhance foundry operations and strengthen UNI’s ability to support applied research, hands-on student learning and partnerships with Iowa manufacturers. The center will expand its capacity to help companies explore smart manufacturing technologies, test new processes and address production challenges.
