Man Who Escaped From Black Hawk County Courthouse Back In Custody

A man who escaped from the Black Hawk County Courthouse ten days ago after being convicted of assault is back in jail.  Black Hawk County Sheriff Nate Neff said Monday that 25-year old Quinton Thomas Avery Davis turned himself in around 11 AM.

Davis was convicted Aug. 7 of assault causing injury, a forcible felony, stemming from a stabbing in October 2025 at Flirts Gentlemen’s Club in Waterloo. As a deputy sheriff and detention officer approached Davis to handcuff him after the hearing, he ran from the courtroom, breaking a window as he escaped the courthouse.  Deputies from the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, officers from the Waterloo Police Department and troopers from the Iowa State Patrol searched the area but couldn’t find Davis.

In addition to the assault conviction, Davis now faces charges of escape from custody, contempt and pre-trial revocation. He is being held without bond.
