Khan Trial Moved to September

The trial for the Ann Arbor, Michigan man charged after an AMBER Alert out of Waterloo earlier this year is being delayed until September. Daniyal Khan’s trial was scheduled to start on Tuesday, however, court filings from the day before show that Khan waived his right to a speedy trial. Filings show the trial is now scheduled to begin on September 1. Khan is facing half a dozen charges after Waterloo Police investigators say he kidnapped a 12-year-old from her home in Waterloo in early April. He’s accused of grooming her online before driving 400 miles from Michigan to Iowa to get her. Khan was arrested in Berrien County, Michigan not long after the AMBER Alert was issued. The girl was found safe and returned home. Khan is scheduled to return to court on August 21st for a pre-trial conference.
