1,776 American flags will stand in powerful formation this weekend near the Veterans Memorial Hall in downtown Waterloo. The Cedar Valley Exchange Clubs are partnering with the Americans For Independent Living’s Veteran Resource Center for America 250’s Field of Honor. Co-organizer Trent Hunter talks about the event.
A 500 flag procession will take place Friday morning starting at 9AM along the 4th and 5th Street bridges, with opening ceremonies to follow at 10AM. Hunter says each day will have a daily theme, including the Founding of a Nation, the Strength of a Nation, and the Future of Our Nation. Hunter says its impressive how the lines are drawn for the flags to be placed.
In addition, Hunter says there will be other planned activities.
The field of flags will be open daily from sunrise to sunset.
