Matthew “Matt” Jason Hippen, age 52, of Grundy Center, Iowa was born the son of Dennis and Evelyn (DeGroot) Hippen on June 27, 1973, at Ellsworth Hospital in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He was baptized as a child at Ackley Christian Reformed Church in Ackley, Iowa. Matthew graduated from Aplington High School in 1991. He later attended Tech College for Truck Driving.
Matt lived in different parts of Iowa and through the years he worked as a farmhand, diesel mechanic and truck driver. He was a die-hard Nascar fan. He enjoyed church softball league, figure 8 races and hunting.
Matthew passed away Sunday, May 24, 2026, in Grundy Center in his home due to an apparent heart attack. He is preceded in death by his father, Dennis Hippen and a sister, Laura Hippen.
Matthew is survived by his sons, Keagan Dreier of Osage, Iowa and Jace Hippen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; mother, Evelyn Hippen, of Aplington; brother Michael (Wanda) Hippen of Parkersburg; two sisters, Lisa Hippen of Aplington and Lynn (D. Nick) Seedorff of Janesville; nieces and nephews, Justin (Patti Rebhan) Hippen, Luke Hippen, Samuel (Alyssa Blackburn) Seedorff, John Seedorff, Eve Seedorff and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Burial will be held 2:30 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2026, at Pleasant View Cemetery, Aplington, Iowa.
Memorial will be held 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2026, at Redman Funeral Home & Cremation Chapel, Aplington, Iowa.
