One Person Dies After Tama County Crash

One person has died following a crash in Tama County earlier this month involving a volunteer firefighter responding to a fire call. On May 10th, the Tama County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at the intersection of Highway E66 and Highway V18 near Chelsea just before 3PM. According to the Tama County Sheriff’s Office, a volunteer firefighter was driving a personal pickup truck to the Chelsea Fire Station with emergency flashers activated in response to a fire call. The truck failed to stop at the intersection and collided with a vehicle heading eastbound. Both drivers suffered serious injuries. The sheriff’s office has confirmed one person has since died, but it has not been confirmed whether the fatality was the firefighter or the other driver.
