A 68-year old Walker man was arrested late last week on charges of grooming and enticing a minor. According to a release from the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office, Jay Michael Balcom was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Thursday afternoon. Investigators say Balcom communicated for weeks with someone he believed to be an underage boy, requesting explicit images and arranging a meeting. He was arrested without incident when he arrived at a rural location in Buchanan County. If Balcom is convicted, he faces up to five years in prison on each charge, and may be required to register as a sex offender. The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Independence Police Department in the case.
