Khan Trial in Waterloo Now Set for June 30

The Michigan man accused of kidnaping a 12-year old Waterloo girl last month, triggering an AMBER Alert, is now scheduled for trial later this summer.  New court filings posted Friday show Daniyal Khan is set to go to trial on June 30th, at 9AM.  He entered not guilty pleas Tuesday to charges of second-degree kidnapping, enticing a minor under 13, child stealing, grooming, purchase/possession of a depiction of a minor in a sex act, and indecent contact with a child. Khan was arrested in Berrien County, Michigan on April 5th after the girl went missing from her home in Waterloo earlier that day. An AMBER Alert was sent out in Iowa about one hour before Khan was taken into custody. The girl was found safe with Khan’s vehicle about two hours west of his home in Ann Arbor. He was extradited back to Iowa after spending a week and a half in custody in Michigan.
