Kathleen J. “Kathy” Auringer, 72 of Evansdale passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at UnityPoint Allen Hospital in Waterloo. She was born on November 28, 1953, in Grundy Center, the daughter of Vernon and Elizabeth (Wiseman) Junker.
She graduated from East Waterloo High School in 1972.
Kathy married Steve Auringer on October 19, 1974, at Sacred Heart Church in Waterloo.
She worked as a teller at Waterloo Savings Bank/U.S. Bank. Kathy loved bowling, watching baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs, she enjoyed going to the casino, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Steve; two daughters, Jennifer (Darin) Duffy of Toddville, Heather (Russell) Dolan of Denver; son, J.D. (Amy) Auringer of Dysart; grandchildren, Rylyn, Karter, Ella, Olivia, Liam, Harper, and Jaxson; two brothers, Tom (Kristi) Cross of Fredericksburg, VA, Mike Cross of Wichita, KS; and her beloved pups “the boys”, Charlie and Rizzo.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Stevie Junker; and nephew, Joshua Cross.
Services: 4:00 – 6:00 PM, Monday, April 20, 2026, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo.
