Beach at George Wyth State Park Is Closed For the 2026 Season

Beachgoers at George Wyth State Park will have to make alternate plans for this summer, as the beach is closed for the 2026 season. Park Manager Lori Eberhard said a construction project at the park and an inability to secure an operator for beach concessions led to the closing.
The entire beach area will be unavailable, including for swimming and other beach activities.
At the present time, because of rising waters over the last few days covering the trails and other areas, the park itself has been CLOSED. It should reopen once the waters recede.
The rest of George Wyth State Park will remain open for the season. The campground, picnic areas and bike trails will all be accessible. The park is searching for a concessionaire with plans to reopen the beach and concession operations in 2027.
