Cedar Falls boys basketball team begins State Tournament play tonight

The high school boys basketball State Tournament tips off today at Casey’s Center in Des Moines and four area schools will be among those competing this week.

In Class 4A quarterfinals,

Top-seed Cedar Falls (22-0) takes on 8-seed Urbandale (14-8) at 7:15.

Cedar Falls is making its third straight appearance at the State Tournament and 16th overall in school history. Urbandale is in the State Tournament for the first time since 2014.

In Class 2A quarterfinals on Wednesday,

6-seed Aplington-Parkersburg takes on 3-seed Iowa City Regina,

5-seed Grundy Center faces 4-seed Treynor

and 8-seed Union plays top-seed Carrol Kuemper.
