Three Area Boys Basketball Teams Headed to State Tournament
Three area high schools qualified for the Class 2A boys basketball State Tournament on Saturday night as Union, Grundy Center and Aplington-Parkersburg each won Substate Finals.
Union edged Pella Christian, 61-60. The Knights’ Tate Van Dyke hit a game-winning jumper with 14 seconds remaining.
Grundy Center defeated Dyersville Beckman, 56-44. The Spartans win marks the third straight season they’ve reached the State Tournament.
And Aplington-Parkersburg outlasted Cascade in double overtime, 75-68.
Meanwhile, tonight in high school postseason boys basketball, berths to the Class 3A State Tournament will be determined as Substate Finals take place.
