Waterloo Woman Dies In Mower County, Minnesota Crash

A Waterloo woman died Saturday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash in Mower County, Minnesota.  According to the Mower County Sheriff’s Office in Austin, the crash occurred around 1:20 pm at the intersection of 610th Avenue and 170th Street, in Rose Creek, Minnesota.  A car driven by a Waterloo man was southbound when it hit the northbound truck, which was towing a flatbed trailer.  The impact resulted in the car catching fire.  The driver was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.  A female passenger was trapped in the car and later removed by first responders, but despite emergency efforts, she was later pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger had serious injuries and was also taken to the Austin hospital.  The pickup’s driver, from Austin, sustained minor injuries and did not need hospitalization.  Sheriff’s deputies say weather and roadway conditions were believed to be contributing factors in the crash. No names have been released so far and the investigation is continuing.
