Former Waterloo Mayor’s Son Arrested

The 18-year old son of former Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart has been arrested following a robbery in Linn County late last year. Quenden Immanuel Hart was arrested Monday in Waverly after authorities carried out a search warrant, He was taken to the Bremer County Jail and later transferred to the Linn County Jail on a warrant for second-degree robbery, first-degree theft and fraudulent use of credit cards. He is being held without bond. According to a search warrant application, the younger Hart is accused of robbing $10,000 in cash from a Marion man last December. The victim told authorities that he thought he was speaking with an investigator finding fraud in the victim’s bank account. The search warrant says the victim tried to chase after Hart and suffered minor injuries after being dragged by his car. The warrant continues that the victim saw several fraudulent transactions appear in his bank account after the incident.
Former Mayor Hart said in a Facebook post on Tuesday that this has been “one of the most difficult moments” for his family, adding, “I love my son deeply, and our family is supporting him while also recognizing the seriousness of the situation. We respect the legal process and trust that it will proceed fairly and thoroughly. Because this is an active legal matter, I will not be commenting on specific details. I ask for your prayers, your grace, and your respect for our family’s privacy — as well as for all those affected.”
