Feenstra Announces $62 Million in FEMA Disaster Relief for Iowa

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra of Hull announced that more than $62 million in federal disaster recovery funding has been allocated to Iowa communities following the devastating floods of 2024.

The funding, provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, will support infrastructure repairs, school recovery efforts, housing restoration and transportation improvements across the state.

“After the devastating floods that impacted our district in 2024, this federal disaster assistance will help our communities rebuild stronger than before,” Feenstra said in a statement. “From restoring roads and bridges, to repairing schools and homes, these funds will provide critical support to families, farmers, businesses, and local governments who have been diligently working to recover.”

Feenstra said he worked directly with FEMA administrators and federal officials to advocate for the resources and will continue coordinating with FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security to ensure Iowa communities receive the support needed for full recovery.

Among the allocations in Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District:

  • More than $2 million for the Iowa Department of Transportation

  • More than $2 million for the City of Minden

  • More than $8.4 million for the Rock Valley Community School District and Rock Valley Christian School

  • More than $10 million for the City of Rock Valley and Rock Valley residential housing

  • More than $3 million for Osceola County

  • More than $4.1 million for the Little Sioux Inter-County Drainage District

  • More than $1.1 million for the City of Cherokee

  • More than $700,000 for the City of Rock Rapids

The funding is part of ongoing federal recovery efforts following widespread flooding that caused significant damage across western and northwest Iowa in 2024.
