UPDATE: Cedar Falls Police Investigate Shooting Death

UPDATE (As of 10:53 AM Friday, February 6):  Cedar Falls Police have released the name of the woman who died from gunshot injuries.  She was identified as 21-year old Jaye’mya E’Shay Sudduth.   Public Safety Director Craig Berte says police continue to conduct interviews and gather evidence.  No charges have been filed at this time.

UPDATE (As of Thursday, February 5th, 9:54 PM):  One woman has been reported dead after being shot in Cedar Falls and a 21-year old male is in custody Thursday night.  Around 7:30 PM, Cedar Falls Police received a 911 call about a shooting that occurred at 1029 Maplewood Drive, Apartment 8. Police say a fight occurred between acquaintances and a person had been shot. Police and EMS arrived and attempted lifesaving measures but the woman died from her injuries.  In the release by Public Safety Director Craig Berte, the male and the victim both lived in the apartment and no charges have been filed at this time.

One woman has been reported dead after being shot in Cedar Falls Thursday night.  Around 7:30PM, Cedar Falls Police received a 911 call about a shooting that occurred at 1029 Maplewood Drive, Apartment 8. Police say a fight occurred between acquaintances and a person had been shot. Police and EMS arrived and attempted lifesaving measures but the woman died from her injuries.  In the release by Public Safety Director Craig Berte, the identity of the alleged shooter is known and the public is not at risk.  No other information is being provided at this time and the investigation is continuing.
