Waterloo Siblings Die In Kenya Crash; Sister Hospitalized

A Waterloo family is mourning the loss of two children and continues to pray for the recovery of another after a deadly car crash in Kenya. The crash happened on Sunday while the DeLeon and Christopher families were traveling near Nairobi, Kenya. Family members said Emmanuel DeLeon, an eighth-grade student at Hoover Middle School, and his younger brother, Kairu Winklepleck, died at the scene. Their older sister, Njeri DeLeon, a junior at Waterloo West High School, remains in critical condition in an intensive care unit at a hospital in Kenya. The children’s parents were not physically injured. A GoFundMe account page has been established to assist the family with expenses.
