Hudson Schools Evacuate Wednesday Due To Gas Leak

Hudson Community School District evacuated its middle and high schools Wednesday morning due to a main gas line being hit by contractors in the area of Wood Street and School Street. Students were relocated to Prairie Lakes Church in Cedar Falls, where they were accounted for and lunch was provided for them.  Early pickup of students was coordinated from the church and school was canceled for the rest of the day. All after-school activities were canceled.  The high school parking lot was also closed for a time and by 2:00PM, the Hudson Police Chief said the gas line was secured and it was deemed safe to return to the area.
