Lance M. Uhlenhopp, 60, Aplington

Lance Merle Uhlenhopp, age 60, of Aplington, Iowa, was born the son of Merle Dean and Norrell Clarice (DeBerg) Uhlenhopp, on November 20, 1965, in Iowa Falls, Iowa.  Lance was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Aplington.  He attended Aplington High School.

On October 5, 1991, Lance was united in marriage with Lynette Boger at Ackley Methodist Church in Ackley, Iowa.  The couple lived in Aplington throughout their married life.  Lance drove semi for several companies, mainly moving livestock.  His last place of employment was driving semis for Sinclair Elevator, which he retired from in 2020.

In his younger years, Lance enjoyed riding horses.  Lance liked to travel, especially while riding his Harley.  One of his favorite trips was to North Carolina and Tennessee.  He enjoyed NASCAR, attending car races and going to Jason’s home to play farkle and darts.  Lance loved spending time with his family and friends and especially hanging out with his grandchildren.

Lance died on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Mercy One – Covenant Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, of natural causes.  Lance was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Henry & Lela Uhlenhopp; his maternal grandparents, Claus and Cora DeBerg; and his mother and father-in-law, Richard and Wilma Boger.

Lance is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lynette Uhlenhopp of Aplington; a son, Austin (Emily) Uhlenhopp of Aplington; a daughter, Ashley (Nicholas) Biersner of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland; three grandchildren, Elliana & Brynley Biersner and Charlotte Uhlenhopp; his parents, Merle and Norrell Uhlenhopp of Aplington; a brother, Jason Uhlenhopp of Kesley, Iowa; a sister, Tammy (Larry) Foxworthy of Dike, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Aplington Evangelical Presbyterian Church, with burial in the Pleasant View Cemetery, both in Aplington.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday before the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to family.
