Kyle R. Nielsen, 69, Brandon

Kyle Ravon Hoffa Nielsen, 69, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend passed peacefully from this life on December 17, 2025 at home in Brandon, Iowa after an almost three year courageous battle with cancer. Her faith in her Savior and the love of her family and friends provided the strength to endure well to the end. We are thankful she has returned home and is no longer in pain.
Kyle was born September 1, 1956 in Grundy Center, Iowa. She was the second of four children born to Earnest Ray Hoffa and Helen Louise (Paul) Hoffa. She spent her early years on the family farm outside of Grundy Center where she learned well the value of hard work and service. She graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1974. She later attended the University of Northern Iowa and Brigham Young University where she graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. She completed a Masters of Public Administration from Utah State University in 1989.
Kyle met the love of her life, Steven Paul Nielsen, at church activities in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were married on November 16, 1979 in the St. George Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their joy increased with the addition of their son Pe’ton followed by a second son, Evan. Work and family took them from Nevada to Utah to North Carolina and to Iowa.
Kyle was a Certified Public Accountant in Utah. She worked for Utah State University, Salt Lake City School District and Brigham Young University.
Faith was an important part of her life. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings especially in Relief Society and Primary with a favorite being in the nursery. She looked forward to returning home to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ and her Heavenly Father and to be reunited with friends and family on the other side of the veil.
Family always came first. She loved spending time with friends and family playing games and traveling. She and her family traveled on many cruises. She loved seeing the beauty of God’s creations and learning about the history and cultures of many countries. She loved gardening, flowers, reading, needlework and quilting. She recently completed designing and making beautiful Christmas stockings for her grandchildren.
She was kind, patient and devoted to family. She spent much time assisting her parents in their later years. She leaves behind countless friends and family who will miss her dearly.
Kyle is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Steven Nielsen, two sons, Pe’ton (Sarah) and Evan Nielsen, five grandchildren – Holland, Sofia, Crew, Navie and Lydia. She is also survived by two sisters, Karna Hawkins and Dara Hoffa, a brother DeLon (Lori) Hoffa. Also sister-in-law Jana (Joey) Wyson and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Helen Hoffa, and by her in-laws, Val and Arlene Nielsen and brother-in-law Mark Hawkins.
Interment will be in the Sheller Cemetery in rural Grundy County.
