An arraignment hearing has been scheduled for Black Hawk County Supervisor Chris Schwartz, who was arrested last month on two counts of sexual abuse. The charges stem from incidents that allegedly occurred in August 2023. Court records show that Schwartz is set to be arraigned on the charges on Monday. The hearing will take place at 11 AM and will be conducted via video or telephone conference. Schwartz has entered a written not guilty plea to the charges. Schwartz has served on the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors since 2016.
UPDATE: In addition, on Wednesday, Iowa Food Systems Coalition announced that it has mutually ended its contract with Schwartz as its Executive Director. Schwartz began in that role in April 2024.
