City of Cedar Falls Clarifies Channel 15 Update

With the announcement this week by Cedar Falls Utilities that it will be ending its Cable and TV service offering in October 2026, the City of Cedar Falls clarified the impact on Cedar Falls Channel 15. City officials say the Channel 15 team is employed by the City, although a significant portion of the revenue to support its programming comes from franchise fees from CFU’s cable TV service. In a statement, Cedar Falls Mayor Danny Laudick said, quote: “We understand the community may have questions about the status of Channel 15 in light of this announcement by CFU. We recognize that the Channel 15 programming is a mainstay of local news and connection for residents in Cedar Falls, and we remain committed to looking at alternative ways to continue providing the Channel 15 news and content that residents are so accustomed to going forward.” Laudick adds, “While we don’t know for certain how that may look, we will be working closely with Cedar Falls Utilities over the next year as they retire their cable TV service to see what options exist to keep that same level of quality local programming available to residents and families across Cedar Falls.” Coloff Media has reached out to Mayor Laudick for further comment.
