UNI’s Sesquicentennial Year Gets Underway
Ringing of the Sesquicentennial Bell Opens The Festivities

Monday marked the official start of the University of Northern Iowa’s sesquicentennial. A series of events will be held this week during UNI’s Homecoming week to kick off a yearlong celebration marking the school’s 150th anniversary. First up was the first ringing of the Sesquicentennial Bell. UNI President Mark Nook.
Nook says the bell will be rung at the beginning and end of each semester after commencement exercises, and other special occasions. He adds the bell will also be rung at the end of next year’s Homecoming, which will conclude the year-long sesquicentennial celebration.
Here’s nat sound of the Sesquicentennial bell as chimed after the ceremonies.
